It’s been a rough start to the league season for MLS side Sporting Kansas City, currently sitting in 14th place at 0-2-3 and looking at a -5 goal differential entering the heart of the season.
Off the pitch, however, there’s been progress made when it comes to finding a potential Kansas online betting partner, according to spokesperson Rob Thomson.
In an emailed statement to BetKansas.com, Thomson said the club is closing in on a partnership. Sporting KC will become the first sports team in Kansas to reach a pact whenever it does get a deal done. Kansas Speedway and the Hollywood Casino located at the NASCAR track are partnered with Barstool Sportsbook Kansas.
“We continue to have positive discussions with all parties involved in the process and anticipate an announcement sometime in the next 30-45 days,” Thomson told BetKansas.com.
As part of legalized sports betting in the state, which launched last September, Sporting KC is able to partner with a national sportsbook operator. The team told BetKansas.com last summer it expected to place betting kiosks at Children’s Mercy Park once it finalized a betting partnership.
Sporting KC Remains Postseason Long Shot
Sporting KC is sitting in the lower-third of the MLS league table when it comes to championship odds, according to BetMGM Sportsbook Kansas.
Overall, the club sits at +6600 to win the 2023 league championship, giving Sporting KC the seventh longest odds of any MLS team.
Aside from the team’s 4-1 loss to Seattle on Saturday, each of its other four matches have been decided by a goal or less, including consecutive 0-0 ties against Colorado and the L.A. Galaxy earlier this month.
In total, Sporting KC has been outscored 7-2 this season, heading into the team’s home match against Philadelphia this Saturday.
The team will play four more matches in April — against Colorado, San Jose, New England and Montreal — as Sporting KC looks to get back on track and chase down the club’s first conference title since the 2020 season.
How Sporting KC Looks Entering April
Sporting KC is a sizable home underdog on Kansas mobile betting apps against Philadelphia, with BetMGM listing it at +425 to notch its first regular season victory.
For those looking to wager on Sporting KC’s third tie of the year, BetMGM Sportsbook has such a result at +300.
Come Saturday, Sporting KC will look to snap its six-match losing streak (dating back to 2022), getting back on the winning side for the first time since beating Seattle, 1-0, on Oct. 2.
For the remainder of the MLS season, as well as for all major sports, BetKansas.com is the place to be for Kansas sportsbook bonuses.
