The Kansas Jayhawks open the 2026-27 college basketball season Monday against Fordham. Ranked No. 17 in the preseason AP poll, Kansas enters the year at +3000 to win the national championship at DraftKings, giving the Jayhawks an implied probability of 3.2%.
Kansas Futures Before Opening Night
Kansas Jayhawks odds at DraftKings sit at +3000 for the national title, with Duke listed as the favorite. Other Kansas futures include +750 to reach the Final Four, an implied probability of 11.8%, and +350 to win the Big 12. That conference price is the second shortest in the league behind Arizona and implies 22.2%. Freshman Tyran Stokes is +1700 to win the Wooden Award.
A Retooled Roster After Last Season
Kansas went 24-11 last year, finished 12-6 in the Big 12 and lost 67-65 to St. John's in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 4 seed. Darryn Peterson, the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft, is gone, and Flory Bidunga transferred to Louisville.
Stokes, the nation's top-ranked prep prospect, headlines the newcomers along with freshman Taylen Kinney and transfers Keanu Dawes from Utah, Leroy Blyden Jr. from Toledo, Christian Reeves from College of Charleston and Trey Kaufman-Renn from Purdue, who joined on Oct. 19. Tre White and Melvin Council Jr. also return.
Bill Self enters his 24th season at Kansas and 34th as a head coach, with an 840‑272 career record that excludes 15 wins vacated by the NCAA. Stokes is the fourth consensus No. 1 national recruit he has coached there, joining Peterson, Andrew Wiggins and Josh Jackson.
Early Games Could Move the Board
Kansas opens at home with Fordham on Nov. 2 and Middle Tennessee on Nov. 6. The schedule gets tougher Nov. 10, when the Jayhawks face No. 23 Kentucky in the Champions Classic in Chicago. Kansas then plays UNLV in Las Vegas on Nov. 17, hosts Villanova on Nov. 27 and meets Missouri in Kansas City on Dec. 6.
Missouri is receiving votes in the preseason poll but is currently outside the Top 25. In December, Kansas visits No. 4 UConn on Dec. 12 before facing Ohio State at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 19. Futures prices at Kansas sports betting books can shift as the season gets underway, so the Jayhawks' +3000 national title odds could change as these games are played.
