How Much Sports Wagering Operators Kept
The Kansas Lottery reported that operators returned approximately $164.5 million to bettors during June, leaving roughly $12.7 million in gross sports wagering revenue before other deductions. That works out to a hold of about 7.2 percent, down from roughly 9.3 percent in June 2025, when operators paid out a smaller share of the money wagered.

After deducting $5.16 million in promotional credits and $431,114 in federal excise taxes, operators reported $6.9 million in taxable sports wagering revenue for June. That represented a decline of about 60 percent from the $17.2 million reported in June 2025. The state's 10 percent tax on taxable sports wagering revenue generated $691,041 in June, down from about $1.72 million during the same month last year.

Retail vs. Online Wagering
Online wagering continues to dominate the Kansas market. Of the $177.2 million wagered in June, about $175.6 million came through online and mobile platforms, while retail sportsbooks at the state's casinos took in just under $1.6 million. A
Among online operators, DraftKings, operating through Boot Hill Casino, generated the largest share of handle at $71.2 million, followed by FanDuel through Kansas Star Casino at $53.8 million. Kansas betting apps including DraftKings, FanDuel, theScore Bet, BetMGM, Caesars and Fanatics Sportsbook Kansas accepted wagers through the state's casino partners during June. On the retail side, Hollywood Casino's partnership with theScore Bet led all brick and mortar locations, taking in just over $1 million in wagers for the month.
