AL Manager of the Year Odds 2024: Stephen Vogt & Matt Quatraro Top The List

Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

We’re fast approaching the midway point of the 2024 MLB regular season, with teams either cementing their status as playoff teams or fast approaching irrelevance and trade deadline sell-offs, depending on their win percentage.

In places like Cleveland and Kansas City, there’s a renewed sense of diamond optimism as the Guardians sit seven-and-a-half games ahead of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central standings, which would put Stephen Vogt’s bunch in the playoffs after missing out last season.

The song is much the same in Western Missouri as the Royals (even after losing three straight over the weekend) are still fine position to potentially make it back to the playoffs for the first time since winning it all in 2015, as K.C. sits at 42-37 and just a .5 game back of the final AL Wild Card slot at the moment.

With that in mind, BetKansas.com is using our Kansas sports betting mindset to break down some hypothetical odds on which AL manager could take home Manager of the Year honors in the junior circuit, with Matt Quatraro of the Royals standing tall currently.

Currently, Quatraro is listed at +190 as the next AL Manager of the Year, ranking behind Vogt (+165) and ahead of Aaron Boone of the New York Yankees on our odds board.

Quatraro is in his second season with the Royals but has K.C. in a much-improved position over last year’s disastrous 56-106 (.392) campaign in the Crossroads, putting the franchise squarely in the playoff picture with less than 100 regular season games to play.

Rounding out our AL MOY list are veterans of the trade like Scott Servais of the Seattle Mariners (+950), Brandon Hyde of the Baltimore Orioles (+1200), Rocco Baldelli of the Minnesota Twins (+1800) and AJ Hinch of the Detroit Tigers (+2000).

Still, it’s hard not to wax poetic on a team like the Royals that entered the year with win total over/under figures that ranged from 73.5 (BetMGM & FanDuel) to 74.5 (Bet365, Caesars Sportsbook and DraftKings).

To put that in perspective, FanDuel Sportsbook Kansas currently lists the Royals at -104 to make the playoffs, speaking to the immense turnaround job that Quatraro has pulled off in Kansas City this baseball season.

Since 2014, no manager from the Royals has won the AL Manager of the Year award, with the last AL Central skipper to do so being Terry Francona of the Cleveland Guardians two years ago.

Other recent AL Central winners include Baldelli in 2019, Paul Molitor of the Twins in 2017 and Francona again in 2016, though Royals fans can hope that 2024 will be the year that Quatraro brings the honor home to Kansas City.
