Starting things off, the man who is expected to pick up where he left off during his sophomore season. Rising Wildcats junior QB Avery Johnson is holding a passing yardage over/under of 207.5 on our board, with matching -115 odds on the under and over. Johnson’s rushing yardage number to hit is 46.5 against the Cyclones, with -115 odds on the over and under there as well.

We’re giving Johnson a passing touchdowns over/under of 1.5 against Iowa State, with the over listed at +110 compared with -200 odds that the junior from Wichita throws for one or zero touchdowns on Aug. 23. Finally, we’re giving the third-year K-State QB -155 odds of scoring at least one touchdown on the ground in Dublin, underscoring Johnson’s unique talents, both in airing it out and stretching opposing defenses from sideline to sideline with his legs.

Johnson holds +5000 Heisman Trophy odds on FanDuel Sportsbook Kansas to enter the season.

A year after throwing for 3,505 yards and 25 touchdowns and leading Iowa State to an 11-3 campaign, Cyclones redshirt junior gunslinger Rocco Becht is back for more. Against the Wildcats, we’re giving Becht a passing yardage over/under of 231.5, with both legs listed at -115 odds. His rushing yardage over/under sits at 19.5, with -120 odds on both outcomes on our board.

As a redshirt sophomore last year, Becht averaged 250.4 passing yards per game, while gaining 318 yards on 98 carries (or 22.7 yards per game). That’s around where we see the Florida native wrapping up when Iowa State squares off against Kansas State. Finally, we’re giving Becht a passing touchdown over/under of 1.5, with +115 odds of him clearing the number and -200 odds that he doesn’t. The odds on that under wager would translate to a 66.7% implied probability for Kansas sports betting.

A year after running for 546 yards and five touchdowns as Kansas State’s backup behind DJ Giddens, junior running back Dylan Edwards is expected to shoulder a lot more of the load in Manhattan this fall. As such, we’re expecting the former Colorado Buffaloes backfield stalwart to shine in his first regular-season start with the Wildcats, with an over/under of 86.5 rushing yards (-118 each way).

In 2024, Edwards cleared that figure once all season, a 196-yard outburst against Rutgers in the Rate Bowl. The Wildcats won 44-41, capping a 9-4 campaign. We’re giving Edwards +100 odds of reaching paydirt at least once against Iowa State in Dublin. As for the game line, Caesars Kansas Sportsbook lists KSU as a 3.5-point favorite over their Big 12 rivals from Ames.

Last year, Carsen Hansen led all Cyclones in rushing yards, with 752 on 151 rushing attempts, and had 13 rushing touchdowns in 14 games as a true sophomore. He added 88 yards and two TDs receiving.

This fall, we expect Hansen to play a bigger role for head coach Matt Campbell and company, with a Week 0 rushing yardage over/under of 59.5 and +130 odds of Hansen scoring at least once. A year ago, Hansen averaged 53.7 rushing yards per game and 0.93 rushing touchdowns per game, though CFB fans are expecting a lot more from him in 2025.

DraftKings Sportsbook Kansas gives Hansen +8000 odds of winning the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s best running back in 2025. That is well behind Edwards’ +4000 standing on the sportsbook’s board, but ahead of some of the best in the game, with the Ireland showcase providing a great springboard opportunity for the third-year running back from Minnesota.

Last year’s leading receiver in the Little Apple is back for his third season with the Wildcats, as junior wideout Jayce Brown prepares for another round of “Farmageddon,” this one on national TV thousands of miles from either campus.

Kansas sportsbook apps should have more props on the KSU-ISU game as it draws nearer.

Brown hauled in 47 catches for 823 yards and five scores as a sophomore last year, averaging 63.3 yards per game after having 437 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. Come Aug. 23, we’re giving the Florida native -118 odds of either hitting or falling short of 58.5 receiving yards, with +170 odds of Brown scoring at least one touchdown in the team’s opener against Iowa State.

DraftKings also has Chris Klieman and the Wildcats to emerge victorious, with a 3.5-point spread on Kansas State, along with an over/under of 49.5 for the Week 0 showdown from the Emerald Isle.

Also follow Kansas State football bowl projections with us all season as the program aims for a spot in the Big 12 title game and the 12-team College Football Playoff field.
