BetKansas.com wanted to get into the holiday spirit by seeing which holiday themed drinks are the most popular in Kansas. Using Google Trends, we conducted a search between Sept. 20 and Dec. 19, 2024, to rank drinks by search interest scores.

The winning holiday drink in Kansas is the custard-based elixir known as eggnog. The eggnog is usually mixed with bourbon, whiskey or rum, depending on personal preference. Eggnog recorded a search interest score of 12 points in our statewide research this year.

Which Christmas Drinks Do Kansans Prefer?

Hot buttered rum (10 search interest score), peppermint mocha (eight), wassail (five) and mulled wine (two) rounded off the top five in our list.

Eggnog was already around when it was mentioned in The Modern Bartender’s Guide in 1878, while hot buttered rum traces its roots back to the American Colonial era. Of the five concoctions on our list, peppermint mochas are a newer invention, while wassail (a hot, mulled punch) and mulled wine trace their roots back to Europe centuries ago.

In recent years, Sunflower State residents have had plenty of reason to toast the success of Kansas City’s NFL team. You can track Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl odds at BetKansas.com as the regular season draws to a close and the team pursues an unprecedented third consecutive Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The timeless classic known as eggnog was the Christmas staple taking home the trophy in Kansas this holiday season among seasonal drinks. Countless Sunflower State residents look for a taste of nostalgia as they celebrate the arrival of the year’s jolliest season.
