Most Popular Vinyl Record in Kansas

Fact Checked by Michael Peters

In recent years, older generations have fallen in love again with vinyl, and they’re not alone. The younger generations have embraced vinyl records like they are the next big thing. Whether it’s the warmer sound or bigger canvas to display album artwork, sales have continued to rise this century.

A recent report by decodedmagazine.com says artists expect to make a combined $5.2 billion in album sales in 2024, the largest total for vinyl since 1990.

With April 20 being Record Store Day and the continued rise in popularity of records, BetKansas.com took a break from Kansas online sports betting and utilized Google Trends to find the vinyl record that was the most searched in each state over the last 12 months (April 2023 to April 2024).

Sunflower State Loves Beyonce’s New Release

Kansans are among eight states that have searched more for Beyonce’s eighth studio album, “Cowboy Carter.” The album with 27 songs was released March 29 this year, and it debuted at No. 1 in many places around the world and on different charts.

The Texan with more than 200 million records sold worldwide is making one of the biggest splashes of her career with this album. The other states that also have “Cowboy Carter” at No. 1 are Delaware, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Rhode Island and South Dakota. Some of those states help explain why the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Americana/Folk Albums, Top Album Sales and Top Country Albums in the first week.

Kansas loves Beyonce’s eighth album, from which the first single “Texas Hold ‘Em” landed on nine U.S. music charts including pop, adult, alternative, country, rhythmic, urban and R&B, according to CBSNews.com.

She has become the first Black woman to top the country charts with “Texas Hold ‘Em” and she’s sparking conversations everywhere over how big the crossover to other genres has been in just one month.

The new album gave Beyonce her biggest streaming week ever, and it became the most streamed album so far in 2024, according to CBSNews.com. Many other stars are included on the album, including Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus and Post Malone.

“Cowboy Carter” is tied for third with the number of states with Taylor Swift’s “1989” album. Only Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts” with 10 states and Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” with nine states had more.
