Hamburger Day: How Much Do Kansas Locals Enjoy The Meal?

There’s a good chance you’ll down a hamburger or two this holiday weekend, but you might consider grabbing one (or more) this Tuesday, which just happens to be National Hamburger Day.

The day also marks the end of National Burger Month and, with the Memorial Day weekend just before it, the beginning of cookout season for many Americans.

Some people may prefer to cook theirs on a gas grill, while others, like me, prefer charcoal. Some people like their burgers well done, while others don’t mind a bit of pink in the middle. However, there aren’t many people who don’t like a hamburger. Even vegetarians and vegans can now partake as Impossible Burgers are now available at most supermarkets.

As we take a break from updates on Kansas sports betting, BetKansas wanted to find out which states were most interested in hamburgers. We used Google Trends to identify those states and ranked them according to their search interest score.

As a kicker, we also researched the top five places to get a burger in Kansas – aside from your own grill, of course. That listing is based on reviews left on Google Reviews.

Kansas may be called the Sunflower State, but there’s a reason why it ranked so high in our study. According to NationalBeefWire.com, Kansas has the third largest herd in the nation. Its 6.15 million head of cattle, more than 7% of the U.S. total, ranks third in the nation, with only Texas and Nebraska ahead of it.

Regarding Kansas’ best burger joints, the top five are all in or close to the state’s largest cities. Boudreux Burger Barn, the highest-rated place, is located 15 miles south of Wichita and just two miles west of the Kansas Star Casino off Interstate 35. Those who gave it a five-star review noted the restaurant’s nostalgic vibe and large portions.
