The largest airlines in the world are among the favorites for Kansas residents, at least as far as search interest online is concerned.
Between the second largest carrier in the world (American Airlines) and No. 1 Delta, there’s no shortage of search interest in the giants of air travel, speaking to their presence at Kansas City International Airport — the state’s main gateway even if it sits just across the state line in Missouri.
Between 2022 and 2023, both Delta (15.43%) and American (13.28%) were looking up when it came to KCI’s market share at Dallas’ Southwest Airlines, which carried 5,183,000 (or 47.18%) of passengers through Kansas City during the 12-month period. United Airlines (904,000) and Spirit Airlines (381,000) rounded out the top five.
Utilizing Google Trends, BetKansas.com took a break from Kansas sports betting and analyzed the most popular airlines of Kansas residents by looking at the search results of each airline over the last 90 days (December to March).

Apparently, KC’s love of Southwest Airlines wasn’t enough to bolster the carrier’s standing, with the Texas stalwart ranking third statewide when it came to search interest with a score of 50.
Overall, American Airlines (86 search interest score) and Delta Air Lines (85 search interest score) were the far-and-away favorites over the last 90 days, while Spirit Airlines (37 search interest score) and United Airlines (29 search interest score) rounded out the top five.
The largest airport located in the state limits, where Kansas betting apps are legal, is Wichita’s Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, which saw 1,721,990 passengers in 2023 (up from 1,285,070 in 2021 and 1,524,965 in 2022). Southwest (20.55%/339,000 passengers), American (13.95%/230,000 passengers), SkyWest (13.68%/226,000 passengers), Delta (13.17%/218,000 passengers) and Envoy (11.04%/182,000 passengers) produced the top five passenger counts in Wichita.
